  • On Memorial Day we will have a special All Level Open Play from 8:00am-11:00am. Spaces will fill quickly so be sure to add yourself to the roster now, so you do not miss out.

Group Ex

  • All Group Ex classes are now held in person at the club. There may be occasions where we need to switch to zoom for a particular class (air quality, weather, etc) but we will send out a notice the day of class if this switch happens. Please be sure to check your texts and emails for these updates.

Gyms

  • If you see any equipment that needs attention, contact the front desk or me as soon as possible, so we can repair/replace it in a timely manner. Please remain diligent about wiping down exercise equipment before and after using it.

Locker Rooms

  • The indoor showers our now available to use. Maximum 2 persons in the locker rooms at any time and be sure to keep the physical distance between others at a minimum of 6 feet and wear a mask after you come out of the shower stall.
  • We have repaired the keypads that secure the lockers. There may be a couple that need to be replaced, but all others are working.

Pool

  • The jacuzzi still requires reservations and only 2 people at a time are allowed. Members from the same household can share the jacuzzi. Please respect other member's reservation times.
  • We have had several instances where members reserve a lane, but do not show up or cancel the reservation. Please be thoughtful and cancel any reservations you cannot attend. If you have the WAC app, it is simple to select "cancel" on the "Home" screen. If we continue to have "no shows" we will institute a higher "no show" fee.
We had a glitch with the jacuzzi/pool lane reservation "fix", but I am confident the new set up is working based on feedback from club members. If you did not see the information on how to reserve both a jacuzzi and pool lane on the same day, I am adding the instructions below:

To make a pool reservation in the mobile app:

  1. Select the "Reservations" icon at the bottom of the screen
  2. Select your service - "Swimming" and click on "Done."
  3. Choose the date you wish to reserve the pool lane.
  4. Select either "30 min" or 60 mins".
  5. If you want to choose your lane, click on "Advanced Options" then "All Lanes" and select the lane number (there is still an issue with the app where the lane does not show a check mark. Do not click the lane twice or you will deselect it. I am still working with them on this issue)
  6. Select "Search" and the available times will populate.
  7. Select your preferred time and "Reserve".
You will get a confirmation that your "Reservation is successful".

To book a jacuzzi reservations in the mobile app (maximum 15 minutes):

  1. Select the "Reservations" icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select your service - "Facility Schedule" and click on "Done".
  3. Choose the date you wish to reserve the jacuzzi.
  4. Select "15 mins".
  5. Select "Search" and the available times will populate.
  6. Select your preferred time and "Reserve".
You will get a confirmation that your "Reservation is successful".

If you have any problems, please come see us and we will try to troubleshoot any issues you are having. Once you have confirmed that the reservations are working for you, please make them through the mobile app instead of through the front desk. They have a lot more duties with all the new COVID protocols and taking the time to make reservations for members when they can be made through the member profile or mobile app takes time away from completing these tasks.

Meet the Staff!

We have added several new employees over this past year and members have asked us to include biographies and photos of our various staff members, so this will be a new section in our updates.

Mary-Ellen is the front desk lead at WAC. She grew up playing lawn and board games with her family in Northern California, and when she first heard about this game called pickleball, she knew she wanted to try it. A friend brought her to a WAC open play and she fell in love with what is the perfect combination of ping pong and tennis. When She is not at the club playing pickleball, she loves hiking the local trails and enjoying the incredible views of the Conejo Valley. She has two boys, Tyler, and Spencer. They are now grown and on their own. One is a recent graduate of CU Boulder and working at a marketing firm in Orange County. The other is living independently at Momentum, formerly United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles. In support of my son and others, I'm an advocate for people with disabilities and their families, and have spoken to groups of 400 people about the challenges and joys of raising a child with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I'm also a lifelong fitness enthusiast and am currently studying to become a certified personal trainer at Moorpark College to expand my knowledge base of exercise and fitness. I'm hoping to use my training to help others keep in shape so they can continue to play pickleball and tennis for many years. Like many of you, I'm looking forward to travelling again! Some of my favorite destinations are beautiful gardens; especially Monet's Garden at Giverny, the Portland Japanese Garden, and Lotusland Botanic Garden in Montecito. In the meantime, I enjoy sitting under the shade of my favorite tree in my own beautiful garden reading novels with my dog, Penny
