Apr 20 – CHLA Blood Drive at WAC. We would like to call on our community of amazing members and friends to support our Children's Hospital of Los Angeles Blood Drive. Last fall we had a very successful drive that registered 44 donors and collected 39 units of blood. This collaboration helps provide the children at CHLA with another chance at life. Our efforts on November 10th potentially helped save 78 lives of those in need!

The CHLA Bloodmobile will be at WAC Wednesday, April 20, 2022 @ 8:30AM - 3:00PM

Donation spots are scheduled every 15 minutes. Please follow the link and reserve your spot today.

CLICK HERE to schedule your appointment! If the reservations are full, you can always show up to see if they can still take you. (I was able to do this last time and waited less than 15 minutes)

Apr 30 - Sound Bath with Tae Bond: This has been a popular event in so we will be offering this every month. It is a wonderful way to bathe your body in soothing, meditative sounds! I have already registered for this event, and I look forward to a "reset" for this coming Spring. Click on the links below for more details and to sign up.

March Madness Bracket Winners!

Next year's bracket will need to be called EveryoneBeatsAnnReeder instead of BeatAnnReeder because EVERYONE beat me this year. Thank you to all the members who participated. Next year we will include the Women's Bracket as well. There were so many exciting games in both brackets. Drinks on me for all who beat me… which, of course, is everyone!

The overall winner of the bracket won a one-month free membership: Lance Rachels

Tennis Members who beat Chris won a 3-pack can of Penn tennis balls: Tim Wainwright, Jon Madara, David Hoffman, Tim Bearer, Michael Roberts, Shirley Gordon, Georgann Greco, Renae Saliano, and Don Kositchek

Pickleball Members who beat Miguel won a pickleball: Laurie Dahlerbruch, David Evans

Fitness & Swim Members who beat Peter win a non-alcoholic drink: Tad Johnson, Beth Ginzinger

Congratulations to all the winners. Remember to pick up your prizes at the front desk.

Court Resurfacing Coming

We are excited to announce that we will begin resurfacing the Tennis and Pickleball courts on Monday, April 18. Because we need to shut down half the courts for each portion of the project, court availability will be limited during this time. Barring any weather restrictions, the project should be completed on Monday, April 25 and all courts will be playable by Tuesday, April 26.

We have also decided to convert court 12 into 4 Pickleball courts. This portion of the club is growing at an exponential rate, and we want to accommodate this growth. We will begin the demolition of the wall and the transition to Pickleball courts upon completion of the resurfacing portion of the courts.

Pickleball League Winners

Advanced Pickleball League Champions: The O'Jays Part Deux comprised of Jay Oken, Patrick Bowe, Sebastien (Baz) Sokolow and Bernadette Larratt.

Intermediate Pickleball League Champions: Rufus and the Miracles comprised of Rufus Gruber, Missy Covert, Natasha Guttman and Lori Gersh.

Sponsorship Opportunities

There are still some sponsorship opportunities coming up. Next month we will have the USTA L7 Junior Tournament as well as the Men's National 45's Hardcourt Championship. Promote your business to active families in our community. Become a sponsor at one or more of the remaining tournaments hosted at the Westlake Athletic Club in 2022. Depending on the style of your business we will put together a package that best promotes your brand.

Guest Passes

You should have received your 12 annual guest passes on your account on January 1 and we thought this would be a good time to review our guest policies.

  • Unused passes do not rollover into the following year.
  • Once your 12 passes have been used in a year, guest fees apply for any additional guests.
  • Any one guest is only permitted in the club up to 6 times per year (free or paid)
  • You may use the guest passes 1 at a time or multiple guest passes in a day

Location of our AED

Seconds count in the case of a heart attack and we want to remind our members that our AED is located in the Breezeway (where the locker rooms are located) on the wall. In case of an emergency, dial 911 and immediately fetch the AED. Our staff is trained in CPR, but it's important for members to be aware of the location of the AED if they are able to assist in an emergency.
