April Newsletter 2021
What's Happening @ WAC?
4/1/2021
Is it really April already? As I wrote the date above, I could not believe it. The good news is that I am hearing of more and more club members getting vaccinated. That is good for them and everyone around them, as well as the whole community. Please remember that masks are still required at the club even if you have been vaccinated. I review the guidelines from the Los Angeles County Health Department daily and will ease restrictions as we are able to. In the meantime, please hang in there. We are getting so close to the end of this challenging journey.
In a recent meeting with the City of Westlake Village, I requested that parking lines be painted in front of the club to help us maximize the number of cars parking on the street. They have generously painted these lines to designate individual parking spaces, as well as repainted the yellow "loading zone" and red "no parking" zone. Please be sure to park within the parking spaces and use the yellow loading zone area for pick up and drop off only. ADA parking spots are located in our private parking lot.
With the beautiful weather coming, we have expanded our hours of operation on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The new hours beginning April 1 will be:

The St. Patrick's Day event was a huge success. We had 40 players come out for fun clinics, matches, food and drinks in a safe environment. Be sure to sign up ahead of time for our next event.
• April 23 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm - Davis Cup. Teams are made up of 5 players, each team representing a country, and will compete for a prize. You can register as a team or individually. If you register individually, you will be assigned to a team. Please click on the link below for additional details on the event.

Some of the Tennis balls are ground up and the felt is separated from the rubber. The rubber crumb generated is called GREEN GOLD. Other balls are sold and reused as dog balls. | GREEN GOLD is used in the construction of tennis courts, horse footing and hopefully soon, with more R&D, a variety of green products. |

Gyms
• Masks continue to be required in the gym area with or without your vaccination (Sorry!), so please respect this rule until we hear otherwise from the county. All areas of the club require reservations. We ask that you not use the gyms if you are not registered to do so. Be sure to complete your workout promptly and exit the gym area at the end of your allotted time.
• If you see any equipment that needs attention, contact the front desk or me as soon as possible, so we can repair/replace it in a timely manner.
Pool
• I am so happy our members are enjoying the new outdoor showers. The purpose of the showers was for our swimmers to be able to do a quick rinse after their swim. California continues to be under drought conditions and unfortunately, we saw a huge increase in our water bill with the installation of the showers. Please be mindful and take no longer than 5 minutes for your rinse. Having said this, it is important to always do a quick rinse prior to entering the pool.
• We had a glitch with the jacuzzi/pool lane reservation "fix", but I am confident the new set up is working based on feedback from club members. If you did not see the information on how to reserve both a jacuzzi and pool lane on the same day, I am adding the instructions below:
To make a pool reservation in the mobile app:
1. Select the "reservations" icon at the bottom of the screen
2. Select your service - "Swimming" and click on "done"
3. Choose the date you wish to reserve the pool lane.
4. Select either "30 min" or 60 mins".
5. If you want to choose your lane, click on "advanced options" then "all lanes" and select the lane number (there is still an issue with the app where the lane does not show a check mark. Do not click the lane twice or you will deselect it. I am still working with them on this issue)
6. Select "Search" and the available times will populate.
7. Select your preferred time and "reserve".
You will get a confirmation that your "reservation is successful".
To book a jacuzzi reservations in the mobile app (maximum 15 minutes):
1. Select the "reservations" icon at the bottom of the screen.
2. Select your service - "Facility Schedule" and click on "done".
3. Choose the date you wish to reserve the jacuzzi.
4. Select "15 mins".
6. Select "Search" and the available times will populate.
7. Select your preferred time and "reserve".
You will get a confirmation that your "reservation is successful".
If you have any problems, please come see us and we will try to troubleshoot any issues you are having. Once you have confirmed that the reservations are working for you, please make them through the mobile app instead of through the front desk. They have a lot more duties with all the new COVID protocols and taking the time to make reservations for members when they can be made through the member profile or mobile app takes time away from completing these tasks.
In my next update, I hope I am able to share with you that I have been vaccinated and that some of our COVID 19 protocols at the club have been rolled back safely. I look forward to the day we can see our members relaxing with friends and family in our social areas with drinks in hand and big smiles on everyone's faces.
Warmest regards,
Ann Reeder
