What's Happening @ WAC?
November 2024
Hi WAC Family,
I hope this message finds you well as we settle into the holiday season! It's been an exciting couple of months at WAC, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on recent highlights and share what we have planned for the coming weeks.
Looking Back at an Incredible Fall
🎉 Celebrating 50 Years Together
Our 50th Anniversary Party was a night to remember! With over 300 members joining us, there was so much laughter, dancing, and camaraderie. One of the best parts was hearing how many of you made new connections with fellow members, discovering the amazing community we have. Thank you to our wonderful WAC team who put their heart and soul into pulling this off.

🏆 A Triumphant Conejo Cup Win!
Our tennis members brought home the Conejo Cup for the third year in a row! Competing against Sunset Hills Country Club, North Ranch Country Club, Spanish Hills Country Club, and Las Posas Country Club, WAC players showed not just skill, but the wonderful team spirit that makes our club special. It didn't matter what level anyone played at—everyone cheered each other on and represented WAC with pride.

🥈 Pickleball Paddle Up Cup Success
Our pickleball team took 2nd place in the very first Pickleball Paddle Up Cup! They competed against Sherwood Country Club, North Ranch Country Club, and Sunset Hills Country Club. The grit, energy, and team spirit on display were inspiring. I couldn't be prouder of our WAC players for their effort and support for one another.

Paddles for Patriots
Our Paddles for Patriots Pickleball Tournament, thoughtfully organized by Coach Miguel, was a tremendous success in support of our local veterans! Thanks to the generosity of our members, we collected two barrels of food as the entry fee - all going to those who've served our country.
A big congratulations to our champions:
  • Men's Division: Glen Fagin and Chris Minor
  • Women's Division: Jacqueline Iglow and Debby Winsberg
Thank you to everyone who participated, cheered, and contributed. Your support made this event truly special!

Holiday Events to Look Forward To
This holiday season, we have some wonderful events planned, and I'm especially excited about one close to my heart: our Veterans Food Drive. We're collecting packaged food for our local veterans, and Coach Miguel has organized some pickleball events where the "entry fee" is a simple food donation. Thanks to your generosity, Gold Coast Veterans Foundation tells us we're one of their top collection sites. Knowing our WAC family, I'm not at all surprised. Thank you for showing what a compassionate and supportive community we have.
Thanksgiving Hours
  • Wednesday, November 27th: 5:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Thanksgiving Day, November 28th: Closed
(no classes, clinics, or lessons either day)
On Thursday, November 21, we'll have a partial club closure from approximately 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM as we work on an essential panel replacement. During this time, the club's electricity will be temporarily shut off, and we want to keep you informed on what areas will be affected.
  • Locker Room: Closed (but lobby bathrooms will remain open).
  • Gyms & Pools: Closed for the duration.
  • Tennis & Pickleball Courts: Open and available for play as usual.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we make these necessary updates to improve the club for everyone. Please reach out if you have any questions, and thank you for your cooperation!

Gym Etiquette Reminder
To ensure a positive experience for everyone in our gym, please keep these important etiquette guidelines in mind:

1. Wear Proper Attire
Please wear appropriate workout clothing and shoes at all times – no bare feet or swimwear.
2. Take Calls Outside
For a focused workout environment, kindly take mobile calls outside the gym, in the social area.
3. Use One Piece of Equipment at a Time
We've noticed some members gathering multiple pieces of equipment for their workouts. To keep everything accessible, please use one piece at a time and return it to its designated spot once you're done, so others can use it too.
4. Keep Personal Belongings Off Equipment
Please don't store personal items on benches or machines. Larger belongings should be kept in lockers or safely in a corner to avoid creating a tripping hazard and keep the equipment available for everyone.

Thank you for helping us keep the gym organized and enjoyable for all our members!
Lane Assignments
Please respect your reserved lane. If you need a different lane, just ask at the front desk when you check in, and they'll be happy to help if something is open.
New Virtual Classes
You may have noticed the monitor in the yoga room! We've launched virtual Les Mills classes, giving you options when live classes aren't available. Look for the schedule in the WAC mobile app, and remember, you can create a class for yourself or a small group whenever the room isn't being used for our other scheduled classes.
